Fireworks Expected as City FC Face EFCC FC in NFCA FCT Pre-Season Finals

...New Champion to Emerge on Sunday at Area 3 Pitch
The stage is set for a pulsating finale in the NFCA FCT Chapter NNL/NLO Pre-Season Tournament as City FC lock horns with EFCC FC in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Area 3 Football Pitch, Abuja.
With the defending champions already out of contention, a new champion will be crowned this weekend — and both sides are primed for glory after thrilling semifinal performances.
City FC booked their place in the final with a commanding 2–0 victory over My Hope FC, displaying composure and tactical brilliance. EFCC FC, on their part, edged out one of Abuja’s finest academy sides, Derby FC, with a narrow 1–0 win to set up a mouth-watering final clash.
Fans can expect nothing short of fireworks as City FC, freshly reinstated to the national league, aim to make a bold statement about their readiness to compete among the NNL elite. Meanwhile, EFCC FC — still smarting from their missed promotion opportunity — will be desperate to reclaim pride and prove their pedigree on the grand stage.
City FC Chairman, Chidi Okonkwo, a seasoned football administrator with stints across Africa — including roles with Ghana’s Horebian FC, Berekum Chelsea, and Swaziland’s Black Swallow FC — expressed confidence ahead of the showdown.
“We’re fully prepared for whatever EFCC bring to the table,” Okonkwo said. “Abuja fans should brace themselves for one of the best finals in the history of this competition. We’re here to win and take the bragging rights.”
The week-long tournament, which kicked off on October 14, features eight top-tier teams: City FC, Pride FC, Derby FC, Coal City FC, EFCC FC, Assess FC, My Hope FC, and Like Mind FC — all battling for supremacy and early bragging rights ahead of the new season.
Sunday’s final promises passion, pride, and pure football drama — the kind Abuja fans live for.
