The Federal Government has nominated several prominent individuals for ambassadorial appointments, including.
- *Former Governors*
    - Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State)
    - Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State)
- *Senator and Politicians*
    - Shehu Sani (former Senator)
    - Reno Omokri (ex-aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan)
- *Business and Aviation Leaders*
    - Femi Fani-Kayode (former Aviation Minister)
    - Fola Adeola (founder of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc)
    - Femi Pedro (former Deputy Governor of Lagos State)

These nominees are undergoing security checks with the Department of State Service (DSS) as part of the appointment process. The exercise aims to fill the vacant roles in Nigeria's 76 embassies and 22 high commissions, following the recall of ambassadors in September 202 and the subsequent delay in appointing new diplomats

A Presidency official stated that the list of appointees will be released once the security checks are completed, potentially by the end of April 2025 .}
