The Federal Government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu don announce plan to cancel Junior Secondary School Common Entrance Examination.

 

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, talk say government go introduce new system wey dem call Learner Identification Number. This number go help track every pupil from primary school as dem dey move go higher classes.

 

According to am, dem go gradually remove the common entrance exam and replace am with better system wey go evaluate students well-well.

 

Alausa explain say the reform na to make education easy to access and also help government monitor how pupils dey progress across the country. Him say the new system go help solve problem wey dey when pupils wan move from primary school go secondary school.

 

The minister also raise concern about the low number of pupils wey dey continue their education after primary school. According to am, plenty children dey drop out along the way.

 

“We get over 50,000 public primary schools for this country with more than 23 million pupils. But from the data wey we see, na just small over 3 million dey move go junior secondary school level for public schools. So the question be say, where the remaining about 20 million pupils dey?” he ask.

 

Government believe say with this new tracking system, dem go fit understand the problem better and make policies wey go ensure say more children continue their education.
