The Federal Government has confirmed that 2.3 million households have successfully received payments under the ongoing Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme, aimed at alleviating the impact of recent economic reforms on vulnerable Nigerians.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, which is coordinating the disbursement across the country.

According to the ministry, the initiative is part of broader social safety net measures introduced to cushion the effects of subsidy removal, currency reforms, and other fiscal adjustments under the current administration’s economic recovery plan.

Each beneficiary household receives monthly stipends to support basic needs such as food, health, and education. The programme targets low-income families registered in the National Social Register.

Officials noted that the CCT disbursement is being conducted in phases, with digital payment systems in place to ensure transparency and accountability.

“We are committed to reaching the most vulnerable and ensuring no Nigerian is left behind in these challenging times,” a senior ministry official said.

The government plans to scale up the programme to reach five million households by the end of the year, as part of its renewed push for inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction.
