Federal Ministry of Finance Debunks N13 Billion Contract Allegation

The attention of the Federal Ministry of Finance has been drawn to a recent publication by Akelicious, alleging that the Ministry, under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, awarded contracts worth N13 billion between February and June 2024 without due process.

The Ministry categorically refutes this claim, describing it as false, malicious, and intended to tarnish the image of its leadership and distract from the significant strides being made in revitalizing the Nigerian economy in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

For the record, all contracts awarded within the stated period—including those related to the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG)—were executed in strict compliance with the Public Procurement Act and relevant regulations.

The Ministry remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of public resources. It urges media practitioners to verify information before publication and warns that legal steps will be taken against false and defamatory reports.

The public is advised to disregard the publication, as the Ministry continues to focus on delivering economic reforms that benefit all Nigerians.
