The Federal High Court in Abuja don sentence Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment after finding am guilty on all seven counts of terrorism wey the Federal Government bring against am.

 

Justice James Omotosho give the judgment on Thursday — four years after Kanu’s controversial arrest for Kenya and him subsequent extradition back to Nigeria.

 

Kanu no dey the courtroom when the verdict land. E don always challenge the court say dem no get power to decide the case. E refusal to cooperate even lead to gbege for court, and the judge order security people to carry am comot for “unruly conduct.”

 

For the judgment, Justice Omotosho talk say the many broadcasts wey Kanu dey do on Radio Biafra na acts of terrorism. According to the judge, Kanu’s speeches dey promote violence and dey encourage attacks on security men. More so, the court say the “sit-at-home” order wey Kanu issue for some South-East states na terrorism too, because e stop people from freely moving, and that one violate Nigerians’ constitutional right to movement.

 

The court also hold say evidence wey dem present prove say Kanu don tell people to kill police and military officers. According to Justice Omotosho, that one na “preparatory terrorism” wey him dey direct toward the Nigerian state.

 

In the end, the judge say the prosecution don fully establish all the allegations, despite Kanu pleading not guilty to the charges.
