FCTA Don Warn Say Dem Go Lock Russian Embassy, 33 Other Embassies for Abuja Wey Never Pay Ground Rent

 

Di Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under Minister Nyesom Wike don talk say dem ready seal Russian Embassy and 33 other foreign embassies for Abuja because dem never pay their ground rent for 11 years.

 

According to wetin FCTA yarn, di embassies dey owe government ground rent wey reach ₦3,662,196 since 2014. Ground rent na money wey person go dey pay government to use land wey no be im own.

 

This action na follow wetin Minister Wike talk on May 26, when im give order make dem start enforcement against 4,794 properties wey never pay their ground rent for over 10 to 43 years.

 

Some of di embassies wey dey owe include:

• Russian Federation Embassy – ₦1,100

• Ghana High Commission Defence Section – ₦5,950

• Embassy of Thailand – ₦5,350

• Côte d’Ivoire Embassy – ₦5,500

• Philippines Embassy – ₦5,950

• Royal Netherlands Embassy – ₦5,950

• Turkey Embassy – ₦3,350

• Republic of Guinea Embassy – ₦5,950

 

Director of Land for FCTA, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, come talk say apart from di ground rent wey dem dey owe, some of di embassies go still pay penalty fee of either ₦2 million or ₦3 million depending on where dem land dey.

 

Other embassies wey still dey inside dis list of people wey owe include:

• Ireland Embassy – ₦500

• Uganda Embassy – ₦5,950

• Iraq Embassy – ₦550

• Zambia High Commission – ₦1,189,990 (na dem owe pass)

 

FCTA don talk say dem no go look face again, say all land owners — whether Nigerian or foreign mission — must obey land law and pay wetin dem dey owe sharp sharp. If not, dem go begin lock gates.
