The rumors emerged after an independent journalist, Jackson Ude, claimed on his verified X handle that Wike was intoxicated when he received Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Wike has vehemently denied these allegations, stating that he was not blocked from the presidential villa. The minister's denial comes amid speculation about the circumstances surrounding the Indian Prime Minister's visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
