The 2024 FCT FA League ended at the weekend at the Area 3 Sporting Pitch.

Sporting Dreams FC  of Kubwa submounted all odds to emerged champions of the  Division one League.

Before the commencement of the match, Sporting Dreams incidental were trailing behind Future Guarantee FC who played the first match of the day, beating Camp United by three goals to one. They finished with 7 points. Sporting Dreams FC then needed a win and two goals to have a goal superior over Future Guarantee. 

The Kubwa based team got the needed win, by  defeating New Dawn FC by two goals to nil, thereby cementing a place in next seasons NLO Division 2 Play-off, and a total of Seven Hundred Thousand Naira, which was redeemed to them immediately after the match. The breakdown of the money showed a prize money of five hundred thousand Naira, and Two Hundred Thousand Naira for their registration for the NLO League next Football season.

Speaking to sportswriters immediately after the match, Chairman of the FCT FA league committee, Barr Babatunde Akintade (Bocknor) said the organizing committee ensured that they raised the bar in hosting a more successful event, which was successful executed to the delight of everyone involved.

“Yes I can say our objective was successfully achieved, we, the committee members had to join hands to ensure we raise the bar in price money and all, and I can tell you that I am happy we did”. He promised that the League organization would continue to progress henceforth.

To  Samuel Abimbola who is the Chairman of the FA Technical Committee,  the 2024  edition of the FCT FA League is very unique in all ramifications. 

“It’s been wonderful, the league is entirely different from the ones we’ve been organizing and we made sure we took it to the various local governments to ensure equal participation on all fronts, with the sole aim of talent discovery in the country”

The coach of Sporting Dreams Mohammed Kato expressed joy and was pleased with the performance of his players. He commended the effort of his opponent and believed that keeping to instructions was the edge his boys had to overcome a very good side like the New Dawn FC.

“I think my boys played and gave everything to win.  it was not an easy game at all because we faced a very strong side who were very good too”

“We thank God for the victory and I must commend the effort of my players for playing to instructions, and we’re happy to have qualified for the NLO playoffs” he concluded.
