Fayose Fires Back at Obasanjo: “You Belong in the Zoo… You Have Lost Your Sanity”
Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has issued a scathing response to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, following remarks Obasanjo reportedly made at Fayose’s birthday celebration.
In a strongly worded statement shared on Tuesday, Fayose accused the elder statesman of making “irresponsible comments” and described his behavior as unbecoming of his age and status.
“You went so low…” — Fayose Blasts Obasanjo
Fayose wrote:
“Dear Baba Obasanjo, I trust this meets you well. Your coming to my birthday party, I appreciate it, except for your very irresponsible comments at your age.
You went so low, but I am not surprised because someone once said you are supposed to be kept away in the zoo. Sincerely, that’s where you belong.”
The former governor said he refrained from responding during the event to allow the public to “know the difference between a sane and a mad man,” adding:
“It is also obvious that you have lost your sanity — or should I say, this is the heightened stage of dementia.”
Fayose concluded his statement by demanding that Obasanjo return money he claimed the former president acknowledged receiving.
“Lastly, I shall appreciate it if you return my money since you publicly admitted you received it, but Dangote…”
(The statement appeared to cut off at that point.)
The confrontation stems from comments Obasanjo reportedly made during Fayose’s birthday ceremony, the content of which has not yet been fully disclosed. However, Fayose’s fiery response has triggered intense reactions across political circles and social media, with many calling the exchange one of the most explosive public clashes between the two outspoken politicians.
