 The Area 3 Football Pitch in Abuja buzzed with energy and camaraderie as FAME Foundation hosted its highly anticipated Annual Women's Day Football Tournament, celebrating International Women's Day with a powerful display of athleticism and unity.

Eight spirited teams, including FAME, IDP, Bet9ja, Pro-Social, FIDA, FIRS, ASWAN, and NUT, took to the field in a thrilling competition featuring 10-minute halves. The event served as a vibrant platform to champion women's empowerment and equality through the universal language of sports.

The tournament attracted a distinguished audience, including the Honorable Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko.

Minister Olawande, in his address, underscored the indispensable role of women in society. "Women cannot be neglected," he asserted, reaffirming the government's commitment to integrating women into youth development programs. He pledged to create more equitable opportunities for young men and women across various government departments, based solely on merit.

Mallam  Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, expressed his enthusiasm for the unifying power of sports. He reiterated the commission's dedication to supporting initiatives like FAME Foundation's tournament, which fosters community and promotes healthy competition.

Mrs. Aderonke, the Executive Director of FAME Foundation, passionately articulated her commitment to celebrating women's achievements. "For me, every day is Women's Day," she stated. She emphasized the urgent need to address the daily challenges faced by women, including the denial of rights and abuse, and to champion women's equality and inclusion.

The tournament culminated in a thrilling finale, with FIDA emerging as the champions. FAME Foundation secured a commendable second place, while FIRS, a first-time participant, impressed with a strong third-place finish.

Mrs. Aderonke extended her heartfelt gratitude to all participants, team members, and sponsors for their unwavering support in making the event a resounding success.
