Promising Nigerian forward Opeyemi Ajakaiye has voiced her determination to return to the Super Falcons and establish herself as a regular in the senior national team, saying she firmly believes her breakthrough moment is on the horizon.

In an interview with The Punch, the 19-year-old Falconets striker opened up about her journey so far, acknowledging the challenges of a club career marked by instability and her sporadic appearances with the national team. Still, Ajakaiye remains resolute.

“I was with the Super Falcons once. Nigeria has not given up on me, and I haven’t given up either,” she said. “I know my time will come, and everyone will say, ‘This is the Ajakaiye we know.’ I will come back again. My time is coming.”

Despite facing hurdles, the former U17 standout continues to push forward, motivated not just by personal ambition, but by a strong desire to support her loved ones through football.

“If I relent, then I’ll be the one who failed because I have a lot of people I want to help, including my family. There are many things I want to achieve through football, and I believe God will crown my efforts,” she added.

Ajakaiye has been a standout talent at youth level for Nigeria and remains highly regarded within the national team structure. Her drive, humility, and determination could soon see her return to the Super Falcons fold — this time, ready to stay.

As the next international window approaches, all eyes will be on her development, with many hoping the young striker finally gets the consistent opportunity she so clearly craves — and deserves.
