Nigeria’s U-20 girls, the Falconets, have been crowned champions of the 2025 WAFU-B U-20 Girls Cup in Benin Republic after a commanding 3–0 victory over arch-rivals Ghana’s Black Princesses in the final.

 

The victory completed a perfect campaign for the Falconets, who had earlier defeated Ghana 3–1 on Matchday 1 and brushed aside hosts Benin 3–0 on Matchday 2.

 

What looked like a revenge mission for Ghana quickly turned into another Falconets masterclass as the Nigerian girls showed their superiority once again.

 

It took just 17 minutes for Nigeria to draw first blood when Janet Akekoromowei fired a stunning long-range free-kick past Ghanaian goalkeeper Aishetu Awinimi, making it three goals in three games for the in-form forward.

 

Six minutes later, Alaba Olabiyi doubled the lead with a well-timed header from a delightful cross by Kareem Ramotalahi, giving Nigeria a comfortable 2–0 advantage.

 

The Falconets maintained relentless pressure after the break, and their persistence paid off when Akekoromowei went on a blistering run down the left flank before floating in a perfect cross for Ramotalahi, who made no mistake to slot home Nigeria’s third goal of the evening.

 

Ghana’s Sarah Nyarko came close to pulling one back in the 63rd minute after a fine solo run, but her effort drifted wide.

 

Nigeria held firm to seal an emphatic 3–0 victory, confirming their status as 2025 WAFU-B U-20 Girls Cup champions — and securing sweet revenge over Ghana, who had beaten them to the title in 2023.

 

With one game still to play, the Falconets’ dominance leaves no doubt: West Africa’s queens of youth football are Nigerian once again.
