In response to demands from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Abia State government, the market executives have inaugurated a monitoring team to tackle this issue .
The team, led by Mr. Christopher Ogbodo and Deacon Chimaobi Nkalu, aims to put an end to the illicit manufacturing and sale of fake and expired products in the market. The Chairman of Eziukwu road market, Hon. Moses I. Oba, emphasized the market's commitment to this cause, warning that anyone found engaging in such illegal activities would face severe consequences.
In fact, NAFDAC had previously shut down 150 shops in Eziukwu Market for selling fake and expired products, valued at N5 billion . The market's new monitoring team is a crucial step in preventing such incidents in the future.
