Chikelue Iloenyosi, a former Super Eagles defender and current Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, has penned a strong worded congratulatory message to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, following his election on Friday as the Ist Vice President of the West African Football Union, WAFU B, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The election was held in Niamey, Capital of Niger Republic, on the sidelines of the 2024 CAF African Schools Football Championship (WAFU B qualifying tournament).

Kurt Edwin-Simon Okraku, President of Ghana Football Association, was elected President of the WAFU B zone. 

Similarly, Oumarou Sawadogo, President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, was elected as the 2nd Vice President.

Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Cote d'Ivoire are the countries that make up WAFU B zone.

Iloenyosi reckons that he's not surprised that,Gusau was elected to serve the West African sub region in that capacity considering his wealth of experience and huge contributions to the growth of the game on the continent.

Gusau is a member of the Organizing Committee for the African Nations Championship, CHAN, and a Security Officer for FIFA and CAF.

 "Gusau's new role in the WAFU B is an eloquent testimony of his huge experience in the administration of the game and invaluable contribution and service to the game", Iloenyosi, who is called 'General' said.

"It shows the high level he has taken Nigeria football to within so short a time he has been in office as NFF President. 

"I, on behalf of the Anambra State Football Association, wish him a successful tenure and more opportunities to render his service to the game".
