The maiden edition of the Nwankwo Kanu U19 Inter State Football Tournament will come to a fitting climax Thursday inside the Enyimba,International Stadium, Aba, with a novelty match between former Enyimba and ex Super Eagles players filing out against selected National SWAN Team as the high point of the day.

Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State had been in football festive mood in the past weeks when the tournament got underway in Aba and Owerri.

And organisers rightly adjusted the tournament's closing day program to accommodate a 'friendly' clash between the National SWAN Team and former players of the People's Elephant and ex Super Eagles players whose large pool are here in Aba adding colour to the tournament.

Ambassador Nwankwo Kanu, Executive Chairman of Enyimba Management Board, in a rare display of appreciation to the media, recognizing their crucial role  in promoting the club towards their 2023/2024 NPFL success, graciously approved the Novelty Match.

'Papilo', as Ambassador Nwankwo Kanu is fondly called, further emphasized the importance of encouraging the media, acknowledging the hazards of their job. The former Super Eagles captain further encouraged the pen pushers to continue highlighting areas for improvement in club and the game.

Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Sporting Director of the nine-time NPFL winners and two-time CAF Champions League winners, promised that the Novelty Match between National SWAN and Enyimba Legends/retired Super Eagles players would be an exciting climax for the tournament.

Prince of Monaco, Victor Ikpeba, Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavoen, Obinna Nwaneri and Uche 'Gentle Giant' Okechukwu are top amongst ex Super Eagles players expected to feature in the Novelty Match.

The SWAN Selected Team, is expected to parade the likes of Andy Randa, Ogo Clarkson, Adams Jessy, Mikky, amongst others.
