Eight time (8) NPFL title winning goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper has informed Exclusivenews.com.ng that his late father, Pa Peter Ezegamhe Afelokhai will be committed to mother earth on 29 August 2025.

Afelokhai, who holds the  record as Nigeria's highest NPFL title winner with eight (8) NPFL titles with three different clubs---Kano Pillars ( four titles), Enyimba (three titles) and Rivers United (1 title)--- revealed that his father died at the age of 82 years.

He further hinted that Pa Afelokhai will be buried in his home town, Otamaro Quarters, Ate Akoko Edo LGA, Edo State.

"I just came back from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, for the burial of my late father, Late Pa Peter Ezegamhe Afelokhai who died at the age of 82", Afelokhai who had an illustrious NPFL career, standing between the posts for Kano Pillars, Enyimba and Rivers United said to Exclusivenews.com.ng on Tuesday.

"I wasn't in UAE for any club games. Rather, I was in UAE for an invitational tournament which involves players who have made name and record in the game.

"My brother who resides in that country profiled my career to the organisers of the tournament--- profiling how I've won the NPFL titles eight times with three different clubs, the only player to hold this record in Nigeria---which was reason they invited me.

"Right now, I don't know which club I'll play for in the coming season. That's not what's in my head right now.

"Rather, I'm here for the burial of my father---Late Pa Peter Ezegamhe Afelokhai, who died at the age of 82 years. He will be buried on 29 August, 2025.

"After that, I'll start thinking about which club I can sign for ahead the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League", Afelokhai narrated to Exclusivenews.com.ng.
