Enyimba Fear No Egyptian Foes; Coach Olarenwaju Says People's Elephant Are Prepared To 'Beat Champions In Order To Become Champions'
Enyimba of Aba Technical Adviser, Daniel Olarenwaju Yema, has said the People's Elephant ain't freting over their CAF Confederation Cup group phase opponents after draws were conducted I Cairo, Egypt, on Monday, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
Nigeria's only remaining club in the 2024/2025 CAF interclub competition, Enyimba International, will face two Egyptian clubs, Zamalek and Al Masry, in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage fixtures.
Enyimba were logged in group D where they will also face Mozambiquan side, Black Bulls.
Enyimba need to reach at least the quarter final stage if Nigeria must field four teams in next season's CAF interclub competitions.
This precarious situation for Nigeria comes on the heels of the elimination of other Nigeria representatives, Rangers and Remo Stars at the preliminary stages of the Champions League and El-Kanemi Warriors from the Confederation Cup.
But the young Enyimba gaffer reckons that the two time African Champions are prepared, ready for the showdown against the all North African showpiece.
Yema Insists that Enyimba are not afraid of any opponent, stressing that they (Enyimba) are also Champions in their own respect.
He added that the nine-time Nigeria champions have shifted focus on the continental stage, bearing in mind that they must beat the Champions in order for them to become Champions.
"We've seen the fixtures and we welcome it. We're preparing for the games and are not in anyway fretting over the Egyptians or any other team for that matter", starts Yema when Exclusivenews.com.ng called him up.
"We're Champions in our own respect, you know that. And we cannot fear anybody. We must beat 'the champion' for us to become champions.
"We've started our preparation towards the continental matches and will face them as they come", Yema concluded.
