Nigeria's most successful and decorated club, Enyimba, begins yet another chapter in their African trophy chase with Moroccan giants, Wydad Athletic Club Cassablanca, on Sunday at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, with a bold declaration that they won't fret over the North Africans rich profile, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The People's Elephant, two time winners of the prestigious CAF Champions League, believe they have the potential and quality to overcome WAC in Sunday's maiden AFL Quarter final confrontation in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, South South Nigeria.

The eight-time Nigeria Elite League winners and two-time CAF Champions League winners in 2003 and 2004, bounced back to winning ways in the domestic flight at the weekend following a hard fought 3-2 triumph over Akwa United in an NPFL match day three fixture in Aba.

With renewed spirit and re-oiled scoring form, Enyimba are are looking forward to Sunday's tie with relish, proclaiming that they won't be intimidated by the rich credentials of WAC in the game.

Eze Ekwutoziam, a goal scoring minded midfielder, unveiled the 'no retreat, no surrender' mood in the amongst Enyimba players ahead Sunday's epic tie Thursday after their walk out session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, venue of Sunday's match.

Ekwutoziam proclaimed that Enyimba won’t be 'intimidated' by the pedigree of Wydad in Sunday's quarter final showdown in the maiden African Football League, AFL, on Sunday.

"We're are aware of what is in front of us and the expecting of our fans and Nigerians from us", Ekwutoziam began after Thursday's 7pm training.

“A lot is really expected from us, knowing how' strong Wydad is, as one of the biggest clubs in Africa; but we are not under any pressure.

Ekwutoziam added while speaking to the club's official media:

“We have been working hard, keeping shape and working on our strategies on how to eliminate them. A lot is expected from us not just from our fans but a whole lot of Nigerians and across West Africa and we are not going to let them down.

“We are going into the game with the right mindset to get a victory and AFL league is a big platform and being the maiden edition, it’s an opportunity for most of us and we are working had to make the best out it".

He pleaded with Nigerian football freaks to stand behind the People's Elephant with their usual voice ferrous boost to motivate them cross the North African Rubicorn.

"We the players are determined, we're prepared and ready to work hard on the pitch to overcome WAC and reach the next stage.

“We call on all our fans from all over the nation and Africa to come out en masse to support and cheer us to victory as we assure them that we'll be at our best to get the job done and achieve the needed result", he concluded.

Teenage dazzler, Chibueze Izuogu, who impressed fans during Sunday's NPFL match against Akwa United, corroborated Ekwutoziam's positive vibes and wooed fans of the People’s Elephant to give them their maximum support by cheering the team to victory on Sunday.

“Am really happy to be in the team representing this great club in this very maiden edition of the AFL league.

“I'm promising our loyal fans that we would do our best, the mentality is very high, the confidence is also high in the camp and everyone is preparing very had to get the job done by achieving the required victory.

“I will urge all the fans to come out en masse to support us because, without you behind us, we are nothing".
