Ifeanyi Ekwueme, a former Super Eagles winger and current Enyimba of Aba Sporting Director, has continued to raise the corporate image and spectator acceptance of his pet project, Tico/Select Pre-Season Tournament which enters its season six this period, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

In a bold move towards driving the gospel of the Tico/Select Pre-Season Tournament home as one of the foremost pre season tournaments, Ekwueme has not looked back in pulling all top shots in the football business to the tournament.

This, he does, by publicly presenting such football gurus to the sporting public and media.

With the Sixth Season of the flagship Pre-Season Tournament billed to get underway in the homely and serene City of Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, Ekwueme has confirmed the endorsement of the tournament and physical participation of a number of high profile Nigerian football personalities in a bid to add glamour to the Abakaliki showpiece.

Monday, 19 August, 2024, was the turn of Chief John Obuh, a former Golden Eaglets FUFA U17 World Cup Silver medal winner in 2009 and current Executive Chairman of Abia Warriors, a Nigeria Professional Football League side.

Sponsor of the tournament, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, was physically in Umuahia on Monday to personally Unveil the 'High Chief' alongside Imama Amapakabo, a former Nigeria junior International goalkeeper and Rangers International NPFL title winning coach in 2016.

Amapakabo is current Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors. Its Amapakabo's second missionary journey to Abia Warriors, reuniting with the team after a brief spell in Rwanda.

Abia Warriors are defending Champions of the Tico/Select Pre-Season Tournament and are pooled in group A alongside NPFL Champions, Enugu Rangers, Apex Krane, Coal City FC and newly promoted NNL side, Khun Kalifat FC of Owerri.

The 2024 edition of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Pre-Season Tournament gets underway on Friday, 23 August 2024 inside the Abakiliki Township Stadium.
