Edo Queens' Coach Moses Aduku Reveals Secret to Stunning Comeback Against Mamelodi Sundowns

In a thrilling encounter, Edo Queens pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory against two-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League. The Nigerian champions' head coach, Moses Aduku, attributed their success to denying the South Africans the opportunity to play their style of football.

Aduku's tactical masterclass paid off as his team scored two goals in the additional minutes of the second half, courtesy of Emem Peace Essien and Mary Mamudu. This dramatic comeback sealed a precious win for the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) champions.

"We didn't allow the South Africans to play their style of football," Aduku explained during the post-match press conference. "In the first half, they were playing very well, but in the second half, we denied them space to play. I told my girls to deny them space, and we did that."

Aduku's faith in his players never wavered, even when they went behind in the first half and missed several goal-scoring chances. "I believed my players could turn the tide of the game," he said. "I knew something would happen, but I didn't know when or how. My players did well, and it was a good game."

With this hard-fought victory, Edo Queens have booked their spot in the semi-finals, where they will face TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday. Aduku's team will look to build on this momentum as they aim to make history in the competition.
