ECN Foundation Celebrates World Health Day with Outreach Programs Across Nigeria

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the ECN Foundation marked this year's World Health Day with a series of awareness and outreach programs held simultaneously in three locations across Nigeria—Abuja, Osun State, and Lagos State.

In Abuja, activities took place at Bamishi Primary School in Kuje, where local residents accessed various health services such as blood sugar testing and blood pressure checks. Health professionals also provided educational talks on disease prevention and overall wellness. As part of the fight against malaria, mosquito nets were distributed to community members. The event included an awareness rally that moved through nearby areas to inform residents about important health issues.

In Lagos State, the foundation's program was hosted at Ayoni Primary Health Center in Mafoluku, Oshodi. This initiative focused on menstrual health and hygiene, particularly for young girls. Sanitary pads were handed out, along with educational sessions aimed at promoting proper menstrual hygiene practices and reducing stigma surrounding the topic.

Osun State saw the event take place at Community Grammar School in Olupo-Iwo. Similar to the Lagos program, this outreach stressed the importance of menstrual hygiene for girls, distributing sanitary pads and conducting health awareness sessions for students and community members.

World Health Day 2026 was officially recognized worldwide on April 7 under the theme "Together for Health: Stand with Science." In line with this theme, the initiatives of the ECN Foundation aimed to enhance access to basic healthcare services and promote health education at the grassroots level.

Throughout all three locations, the foundation combined the distribution of essential health items with community-oriented educational programs, emphasizing the importance of preventive care and informed health choices.
