Former Director-General of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Recognizing the significance of this initiative, Onaiwu highlighted its potential to bridge the development gap in the South East region, which has faced persistent challenges since the end of the civil war. The SEDC is designed to coordinate development efforts, attract investments, and prioritize critical infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and water resources. Additionally, it will address key socio-economic issues including erosion control, insecurity, and the revitalization of the education sector.

"I commend President Tinubu for his vision and unwavering commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the South East," said Onaiwu. "The establishment of the SEDC is a significant milestone in the pursuit of economic growth, improved living standards, and sustainable development in the region."

He further urged South East Governors to fully align with the President’s agenda by collaborating with local communities, private sector stakeholders, and development partners. This, he emphasized, would ensure that projects undertaken by the SEDC are tailored to the specific needs of the region, maximizing their impact and long-term sustainability.

Onaiwu reaffirmed his support for the SEDC’s successful implementation, expressing optimism that the commission will play a pivotal role in unlocking the region’s potential and fostering inclusive development.
