A trauma-informed care specialist, Dr. Adeline Shuri (PhD), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the Anti-Doping Bill into law, describing it as a landmark move that will significantly promote the growth and integrity of sports in Nigeria.

 

Reacting to the presidential assent, Dr. Shuri highlighted the numerous benefits the bill brings, including the promotion of fair play, the protection of athletes’ health, enhancement of Nigeria’s global sports reputation, and increased youth participation in sports.

 

She emphasized that stakeholders will now leverage the cutting-edge facilities of Everight Laboratory to provide critical support to athletes. According to her, this partnership will position Nigeria at the forefront of clean sports in Africa.

 

Dr. Shuri who is a co-founder of Sportfanzone also acknowledged the efforts of the founder of Sportfanzone, expressing optimism for a strong collaborative relationship aimed at advancing the sports sector in Nigeria and across the continent.

 

In addition, she praised the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their dedication and work in facilitating the bill’s passage, stating that their commitment is pivotal to the nation’s progress in sports.

 

With specialized training in General Psychiatric Management (GPM) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Shuri brings a unique blend of mental health expertise and sports advocacy. She reaffirmed her dedication to providing top-notch support to athletes, stressing that the synergy between medical professionals, policymakers, and sports administrators will usher in a new era for Nigerian athletics.
