The Lionesses of Cameroon Tuesday night at the Estadio El Campin turned to the risky lane at the Columbia 2024 world U20 football tournament when she lost by a lone goal to hosts Columbia in their 2nd group A match.

Both sides fought hard to carry the day but the first half ended goalless only for Cameroon to miss a penalty via VAR might at 57th minute. She bowed to VAR again losing a penalty opportunity at the 76th minute.

The only goal of the match came from Yesica Munoz who plays at the Midfield for LIaneros FC when she got an assist from Gabriela Rodriguez to score in the 68th minute.

In the other Group A match, Mexico threw off the Rugby strengthened Australian Girls 2-0 from second half goals.

Kahli Johnson of Western United FC lost a penalty for Australia in the 36th minute though VAR overruled a penalty opportunity for Mexico in the 63rd minute.

Fatima Servin got Mexico’s first goal of the night at the 57th minute when an accurate pass from Saldivar was laced to her and Franco’s goal in the 90+1st minute through Ruiz pass was graciously approved by VAR.

Hosts Columbia looks good for the round of 16 matches with 6 points and 3 goals to top group A; Mexico has 4 points with 4 goals; Cameroon will enter into fasting and prayer mode as Africans do to beat Australia silly as she has one pint and -1 goal while Australia has no point and grapples with -4 goals deficit.

The last Group A matches will be decided simultaneously as Mexico faces hosts Columbia at 2300 hours of Friday and Cameroon Lionesses at the same time and day will attempt to devour the Kangaroos of Australia.

Later today, Wednesday 4th September, the Falconets of Nigeria will lock horns with Germany in a group D decider at 2300 hours while Spain will face Paraguay at 2300 in group C.

Tomorrow Thursday 5th September, South Korea will play against Venezuela in the 2nd Group D match at 0200 hours while Africa’s Morocco will test skills against USA in group C also at 0200 hours.

Also tomorrow at 2300 hours, Japan will have a test of African physical football against Ghana in group E while North Korea and Costa Rica will slug it out also at in group F at 2300 hours.
