Coaches Cup Begins In Abaji, FCT

The Abaji Area Council, known as the Home of Hospitality in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is buzzing with excitement as preparations for the 6th Edition of the Coaches Cup Football Competition are finalized. The event will kick off on October 16th at Abaji Central Primary School.

Sulaiman Alhaji Ibrahim, the Vice Chairman of the FA Council and Organizing Chairman, announced that 19 clubs will compete for the trophy, with Dream Team FC returning as the defending champions. Will they manage to defend their title? We’ll soon find out.

All serving and former executives, totaling 17 individuals, have received branded shirts to mark the occasion.

The competition will commence on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, with notable attendees including Coach Samuel Abimbola, Chairman of the FCTFA Technical Committee, Barr. Babatunde Akintade, a board member representing Abuja South and the NLO board member for North-Central, Ngozi Eze, Chair of the Women’s League FCTFA, and other dignitaries like Bilkis Tijani, Treasurer of the NFCA FCT Chapter, Coach Luke Olaiya, and Olatunji Meshack.

The opening match will feature FUTURE PLANNERS against AMICABLE FC at 3:30 p.m. The first round will also see KAMSAS FC face OLD TIMERS at 2 p.m. on Thursday, followed by EMIRATE STARS vs. FUTURE ACADEMY at 4 p.m. On Friday, Kuje Veterans will compete against Tornados FC at 2 p.m., and ALL STARS will take on POLICE MACHINE at 4 p.m.

The organizers have assured that a medical first aid team will be on standby, “Man of the Match” certificates will be awarded, and a media stand is set up to ensure a successful tournament, showcasing the best of football in the council.
