As anticipation builds for the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 tournament, Warri Wolves Head Coach Napoleon Ahuma has declared his team favorites to secure one of the coveted promotion spots to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

 

Speaking ahead of the competition, Ahuma expressed confidence in his team’s readiness and form, while showing respect to the other contenders.

 

“I would say the Wolves are the favorites already,”Ahuma stated boldly. “With all respect to the other teams that have qualified—we’re all good teams with great technical men. But we are looking forward to getting into the competition and showing what we’re made of.”

 

The Super 8, which features the top teams from each NNL group, serves as the final battleground for promotion to Nigeria’s topflight. Warri Wolves, a side with rich history and strong community backing, are determined to make a return to the Premiership.

 

“We’re going to give the Super 8 our best shot,” he affirmed. “Hopefully, we can deliver for the government and people who desire this promotion so much.”

 

Coach Ahuma took a moment to appreciate the vital support behind the scenes, acknowledging the state leadership and those managing the club’s operations.

 

“I want to really thank our father, the Executive Governor of the state. He’s the moving force behind sports and football in Delta State,”Ahuma said. “Also, the hardworking Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, the club’s Chairman, our technical crew, and the players—it hasn’t been easy, but we’ve stayed united.”

 

Reflecting on the team’s season-long journey, Aluma noted the transformation and resilience that have brought the Wolves to this crucial stage.

 

“We’ve changed a lot since the beginning of the season—there were challenges, but we’ve grown stronger. Now, we’re fully focused on the Super 8,” he added.

 

Aluma also expressed admiration for the teams promoted in the previous campaign, noting their ability to stay afloat in the top division as a standard to emulate.

 

“Those who were promoted last year are still in the Premier League today. That’s our goal too—to not just get promoted, but to stay there and compete.”

 

With ambition, unity, and local support driving them forward, Warri Wolves enter the Super 8 with hopes of returning to Nigeria’s elite football stage.
