The Archbishop of the Mount Zion Mission Incorporated, Dr Asukwo Okon, has tasked members of the church on expansion of God's work in 2024 so as to fulfill the gospel of Jesus Christ as he instructed his disciples to do while on his father's mission on earth.

Okon, who is also the General Field Superintendent of the church, gave the charge while addressing the congregation on the last day of the 77th Annual International Convention of the church, held at the church Headquarters, Oron in Akwa Ibom State.

The convention is with the theme; ‘The later glory of this house shall be greater than the former’, taken from the book of Hagai 2:9.

According to him, there is nothing which is as important as winning souls for the kingdom of heaven.

He said failure to do so could result to the church being stagnated, adding that stagnation is a state of inactivity, remaining idle, being inactive among others.

"The common and primary assignment of the Church is to expand, extend, magnify, outreach, outspread the Kingdom of God here on earth. But today, the Church of God has blinked at, disregarded, elided, failed, forgotten, overlooked, overpassed, over-leaped. "

He explained that with no due heed or attention is paying, or giving to this important, significant, magnitude task; which is enormous, vast, prodigious, colossal and immense in nature, the church would remain unproductive.

"This Mission is Old enough to cover so many areas in Nigeria and even in diaspora which are heterogeneous.

"Let us be awaken to evangelism as a matter of necessity, unavoidable., certainty and indispensable. Evangelism is greater part of our good fight of faith we need to fight, is a race we have to run perfectly well.

"As 2024 is termed, "Our Year of Greater Glory", we should also and seriously embark, take up, set to, enter into, begin or commence on evangelism for our greater glory to be full as we expect. "

Appreciating God for the successful hosting of 2023 International Convention, the cleric, however, listed other policies such as church restructuring, dissolution of duty officers, I love my pastor initiative, as well as usurpation of authority by some members of the church.

The policies, Archbishop Okon said were to serve as spiritual guidance as the church was aiming and expecting to soar to the higher glory in 2024.

"Brethren, let us be mindful of whatsoever seed we sow, knowing too well that we shall reap in due season.

"Note that harvest is always greater than the seed. Henceforth, let this unchristian behavior, and unbiblical attitude cease in the Church of God.

"This cannot make the Church to grow, rather, it introduces crisis in the system and if any elder is caught usurping authority over his Minister, he will surely stand before the Council to answer questions. "

He cautioned the church members to desist from worldly attitude capable of bringing crisis to the gathering of the people of God, adding that God whom they serve operates in the principle of orderliness.

While drawing the congregation's attention to church projects which also included the Archbishop's residence projects, the cleric tasked the church on 'Missionary Fund', to enable raising money for church expansion among other things.

Prayers were also offered at the convention for God's intervention over challenges faced by Nigeria in the recent times.
