Charles Inojie Defends Nollywood Against Societal Ills Criticism

Renowned actor Charles Inojie has stated that the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, should not be blamed for societal ills. In an interview with Saturday Beat, Inojie emphasized the importance of parents instilling family values in younger generations.
Inojie argued that Nollywood films expose societal issues like ritual killings, spiritual fortification, internet fraud, and organ harvesting, rather than creating them. He questioned whether all Nollywood movies focus solely on ritual themes, highlighting that these stories exist because the issues themselves exist in society.
The actor cited real-life examples of pastors and influential individuals engaging in ritual practices, questioning why Nollywood films addressing these issues receive criticism.
Inojie urged parents to teach their children the value of dignity in labor and the dangers of quick fixes, rather than blaming Nollywood for societal problems.
