Chairman, Dunukofia LGA Holds Interactive Session With Traders of Ifitedunu Plaza On Strengthening Security*

The Chairman, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Barr. Chijioke C. Ozumba on Saturday, 8th February, 2025 held an interactive session with traders of one of the biggest plaza in the Local Government Council, the popular Ifitedunu Plaza, domiciled at Ifitedunu junction.
The meeting which took place on Saturday, 8th February, 2025 was an avenue for the Mayor to explain to the traders the newly launched Anambra State Homeland Security Law as it concerns hard drugs and other criminal activities in the Local Government Area in a bit to ensure the safety and well-being of the people.
The mayor of Dunukofia reminded the traders that the present Government under the leadership of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has taken drastic measures on security and safety issues in the State, including Dunukofia LGA.
He advised the Ifitedunu community leaders and the leaders of the Plaza to ensure that no hard and illicit drug sales and activities is allowed within and around the Plaza as according to the Homeland Security Law, culprits when apprehended will be made to face the full weight of the law and in furtherance the State Government will not only demolish such structure were the heinous activities take place but also seize the land.
Barr. Ozumba said: "It is our duty in ensuring that the efforts of the present Government towards achieving a livable and progressive Anambra is achieved with adequate security measures being in place at various levels.
"If you see something, say something, that is while i gave out my phone numbers, that of the community President General, the Dunukofia Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other security team to enable the traders report any illegal activities in and around the plaza any time they notice one," Ozumba stated.
The Mayor went further to warn food vendors encroaching the road in front of the Plaza to vacate with immediate effect so as to allow free flow of movement, especially for the Dunukofia security team that are on constant patrol across the Local Government Area. He told the Leaders of the Plaza to relocate the food vendors, and other traders encroaching on the road to a new and more secured place for their businesses.
The mayor went further to release the Security Emergency numbers as 112 and 5111 while 08002200008 was also made public for security alert.
Present during the meeting were the Ifitedunu President-General, Professor Ufoaroh Stephen Uchenna; the Secretary to Dunukofia Local Government Council, Dr. Malobi Uchenna; the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) incharge of Dunukofia Division; APGA Local Government Secretary, Engr. Azubuike Okoye, Leader and some Members of Congress of Councilors, Supervisory Councillors, former Dunukofia Mayor and Special Adviser to the Mayor on General Matters, Hon. Augustine Onyemaobi and the Chairman of the Ifitedunu Plaza.
