Di Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) don give Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) 48-hour ultimatum to cancel di new increase for ATM withdrawal charges or dem go carry di matter go court.

SERAP dey tell CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, make e withdraw di new fee wey dem call illegal, unfair, and unreasonable.

Di wahala start after CBN announce say ATM withdrawals outside bank branch go now attract N100 charge per N20,000, plus extra charges for withdrawals inside shopping malls, airports, and other standalone ATMs. Dis new rule go start March 1, 2025.

SERAP talk say dis increase go affect poor Nigerians pass, as e go add to poverty and human rights wahala. Dem believe say CBN suppose dey protect citizens, no be dey help rich banks make more money.
