Canada-based journalist, Wale Ajayi, has been appointed as a member of the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) Diaspora Talent Discovery Committee, a strategic initiative aimed at identifying and harnessing Nigerian talents across the globe.

Ajayi’s inclusion reflects his growing influence within the international sports media space and his strong connection to the Nigerian sporting community in the diaspora. His role on the committee is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening the link between Nigeria and its vast pool of talents abroad.

The committee is chaired by UK-based Dr. Tunde Adelakun, a respected sports administrator with experience working with the Super Eagles and the Benin Republic national team. The panel brings together a blend of seasoned administrators, former elite athletes, and media professionals with deep global networks.

Other notable members include sports journalist Colin Udoh, retired sprinter Olusoji Fasuba, former athletes Marilyn Okoro and Olufunke Oshonaike, as well as ex-Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana and former goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

Also on the committee are Ahmed Muhammed, founder of the You to You Sports Charity in the UK, UK-based taekwondo athlete Jordan Joel, Oyilei Orode, and Clement Nwakpa, who serves as the committee’s media officer.

In addition, Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung will serve as First Vice Chairman, David Omigie as Second Vice Chairman, while former D’Tigress captain Sarah Ogoke, OON, has been named Third Vice Chairman.

The Diaspora Talent Discovery Committee is part of the NSC’s broader vision to tap into the wealth of Nigerian talent across the world, with a focus on building a stronger, more competitive national sports system. Ajayi’s appointment further underscores the Commission’s commitment to leveraging diaspora expertise in driving sustainable sports development.
