The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the prize money structure for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), highlighting significant financial rewards for participating teams at various stages of the tournament.

 

Under the revised breakdown, teams finishing fourth in their group stage will earn $500,000, while those placing third will receive $700,000. Quarterfinalists are guaranteed $800,000 for reaching the last eight.

 

Teams progressing further stand to earn substantially more. The fourth-placed team at the tournament will pocket $1.3 million, a position claimed by Egypt at the most recent edition. Third place finishers will receive $2.5 million, with Nigeria securing that amount previously.

 

The tournament’s runner-up will earn $4 million, while the eventual champion will walk away with a record $10 million, underlining CAF’s continued efforts to boost the commercial value and competitiveness of African football.

 

The increased prize money is expected to further motivate teams and federations, while also supporting football development across the continent as nations prepare for the 2025 AFCON showdown.
