The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026.

CAF had earlier granted Morocco the hosting rights for the continental women’s football showpiece in October 2024, with the tournament initially scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

However, following discussions with its partners, including FIFA and other key stakeholders, CAF confirmed that the competition will now be held from July 25 to August 16, 2026.

According to CAF, the decision to reschedule the tournament was taken to ensure the overall success of the prestigious women’s competition, citing certain unforeseen circumstances that made the earlier dates less suitable.

Despite the adjustment in schedule, preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 are ongoing, with organisers expressing confidence that the tournament will be successfully staged in Morocco.

WAFCON remains Africa’s premier women’s national team competition and continues to play a vital role in the development and promotion of women’s football across the continent.
