In a powerful move to elevate the visibility of women’s football on the continent, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the launch of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Stars Spotlight Webinar, a dynamic digital series spotlighting the brightest stars in African women’s football.

The webinar series is part of CAF’s broader campaign to build excitement ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024, which kicks off from July 5 to 26. With global interest in African women’s football at an all-time high, CAF is leveraging this platform to celebrate the players who are reshaping the game and inspiring a new generation of athletes.

The WAFCON Stars Spotlight Webinar will run in three segments, each hosted in a different language:
    •    June 9 (French)
    •    June 16 (Arabic)
    •    June 23 (English)

The sessions will be moderated by leading voices in African sports media and will feature a diverse group of star players, offering fans and the global football community a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into their lives, journeys, and ambitions.

Confirmed speakers for the first webinar on June 9 at 15:00 GMT include:
    •    Sofia Guellati (Algeria)
    •    Fideline Ngoy (DR Congo)
    •    Agueisha Diarra (Mali)
    •    Safietou Sagna (Senegal)
    •    Chaima Abbassi (Tunisia)

Also expected to take part in upcoming sessions are high-profile players such as Barbra Banda (Zambia), reigning CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year, Doha El Madani (Morocco), and Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa), among others.

CAF’s Head of Women’s Football, Maskerem Goshime, emphasized the significance of the initiative, describing it as more than just a digital series:
