CAF Disciplinary Board Delivers Verdict on Equatorial Guinea, Congo CHAN Qualifier Dispute

 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has released its verdict on the dispute between Equatorial Guinea and Congo regarding their 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifier matches.

After investigating the complaint filed by Equatorial Guinea, the CAF Disciplinary Board found the Fédération Congolaise de Football (FECOFOOT) guilty of fielding an ineligible player, Mankou Nguembete Japhet Eloi, in both matches.

As a result, the CAF Disciplinary Board has declared that:

1. Both matches (Equatorial Guinea vs Congo and Congo vs Equatorial Guinea) are forfeited by Congo, with a score of 3-0 in favor of Equatorial Guinea.
2. The Fédération Congolaise de Football (FECOFOOT) has been fined USD 10,000.
