The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has boldly declared that no politician in Nigeria currently possesses the political weight or national appeal to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

 

Bwala made the statement on Tuesday during a strategic engagement session with over 100 pro-Tinubu support groups held in Abuja. The event, themed “Meet and Greet with the Spokesman,” aimed to strengthen coordination between the Presidency and grassroots mobilizers as the administration sets its sights on a second term.

 

According to Bwala, President Tinubu’s policy reforms and development initiatives over the past two years have not only stabilised the economy but have also restored public trust in governance—creating what he described as an “inevitable” path to re-election.

 

“No politician in Nigeria today has the capacity to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Bwala said. “We are moving from renewed hope to recovery, and that recovery must be felt in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.”

 

While insisting the event was not a campaign launch, Bwala said early engagement with support groups was critical for consolidating the gains of the administration and ensuring continuity in 2027.

 

“People often wait until election time to look for support groups, but that is not the right way to do it,” he added. “They are not tools to be used; they are partners in the process. They must be part of what the government is doing.”

 

He praised the support groups for their continued commitment and urged them to remain active ambassadors of the administration’s policies in their various communities.

 

President Tinubu, who was elected on February 25, 2025, and sworn in on May 29, overcame legal challenges from opposition parties following a hotly contested election. In recent months, however, new political movements, including the formation of the African Democratic Party, have signalled growing opposition efforts to unseat him in 2027.

 

Despite these developments, Bwala remains confident that Tinubu’s leadership record and grassroots appeal will be more than enough to secure victory in the next election.
