Former Nigeria international, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has called for patience on Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface, saying the Bayer Leverkussen striker will in no distant time start scoring for the senior National Team.

Iloenyosi, who is also Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, spoke against the backdrop of Super Eagles Group D 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic in Ivory Coast on Thursday, 14 November, 2024.

Super Eagles need atleast a point from their two remaining group D games to seal their place in the 2025 AFCON showpiece in Morocco. On Monday, 18 November, Super Eagles will welcome Rwanda in the final qualification games in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

"Nigeria does not have patience for failure," the former Nigeria defender began, urging Nigeria fans to give Boniface time, believing that he will start scoring for the country.

“Boniface is a fantastic player. We need to give him time. He’s doing well in his club, and once he starts scoring for the country, he has the potential to become a top goalscorer.

“Bundesliga is all about fitness; if you’re not fit, you can’t play. Boniface is a fantastic player, very obedient, and a nice boy. I’m supporting him in everything,” Iloenyosi added.

The 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward will hope to get his first goal for Nigeria during the two upcoming AFCON qualifiers matches against Benin and Rwanda after going nine games without finding the back of the net.
