The 2025 edition of the highly anticipated Bocknor U-15 Football Tournament is set to hold on Friday, September 5 in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The annual youth football competition, organized by the Gwagwalada Football Coaches Council, is part of a holiday engagement initiative aimed at developing grassroots football and keeping young talents meaningfully engaged during school breaks.

This year’s final will feature a thrilling clash between Sheikhamdan Academy and Golden Boys Academy, two sides that have shown exceptional form throughout the competition.

To book their spot in the final, Sheikhamdan Academy edged past Ejiwumi Academy with a hard-fought 2-1 victory, while Golden Boys Academy delivered a commanding performance by thrashing ECN Global Academy 4-1 in the semi-final.

The final showdown will be preceded by a third-place match between ECN Global Academy and Ejiwumi Academy, promising a full day of exciting youth football action.

Dignitaries expected at the final include officials of the FCT Football Association and the FCT Coaches Association, underlining the growing importance of the tournament in the Capital Territory’s football calendar.

Speaking ahead of the final, the tournament’s sponsor, Barrister Babatunde Akintade, who is also a Board Member of the FCT Football Association, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the tournament so far.

“The aims of the tournament have been achieved. It was designed to keep our youths positively engaged during the holidays, and I’m glad it’s doing just that. I will continue to support this initiative, which has already produced players in the U-15 category for national youth teams,” Akintade said.

It’s worth recalling that Golden Boys Academy were crowned champions of the U-13 version of the Gwagwalada Holiday Tournament, and they will now be hoping to complete a double by lifting the U-15 title this weekend.

The Bocknor U-15 Tournament continues to serve as a vital platform for talent discovery and development in the FCT, with scouts and stakeholders expected to keep a close eye on emerging young stars.
