Bocknor U15 Holiday Tournament: Sheikhandam Emerge Champions in Gwagwalada

Sheikhandam Football Academy have been crowned champions of the 2025 Bocknor U15 Holiday Football Tournament, following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Golden Boys FC in a thrilling final played in Gwagwalada.
The tense encounter, which drew football enthusiasts and stakeholders from across the Federal Capital Territory, saw Sheikhandam clinch the title with a lone second-half goal—despite Golden Boys dominating large portions of the match with their fluid play and attacking flair.
Sheikhandam’s path to the final included a decisive win over Ejiwumi Academy in the semifinals, while Golden Boys earned their place after defeating ECN Global Academy.
In the third-place match, ECN Global Academy edged past Ejiwumi Academy 5-4 on penalties, after both sides ended regulation time locked at 1-1.
Speaking after the final whistle, Barrister Babatunde Akintade (Bocknor), the sponsor of the tournament, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the competition, emphasizing that the key objective—to keep the youths engaged positively during the long holiday—had been fully achieved.
“We’ve seen amazing talents throughout this tournament,” Akintade said. “This is why I call on national team selectors to pay close attention to tournaments like this. The potential is here.”
He commended all participating teams and reiterated his commitment to youth development through football, pledging continued support for grassroots initiatives.
The final match was witnessed by numerous football stakeholders, coaches, and scouts, highlighting the growing importance of grassroots football in the FCT.
