Kennedy Boboye, a former Plateau United and Akwa Utd NPFL title winning coach has become the new Sheriff in town as Heartland of Owerri embark on a bold bid to salvage their domestic Premier League season with nine games already decided, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

Worried by the epileptic run of the once dreaded Naze Millionaires in the current campaign, where the five-time Nigeria champions have managed a paltry six points from a maximum 27, the hierarchy of the club has opted to wield the big stick.

Heartland remain winless in nine league games so far in the current 2023/2024 campaign, a grossly disappointing performance that has left them stuck on the 20th spot in the Premier League table.

Consequently, the club has hired the services of former Plateau United, Akwa United and Sunshine Stars of Akure gaffer, Kennedy Boboye in the capacity of technical adviser.

Boboye penned a renewable one-year contract, to become the technical helmsman of the club.

Checks reveal that Christian Obi, a former Nigeria goalkeeper and head coach of the club, was asked to 'work under Boboye or find the exit door'.

That was not the only high level decisions reached at Wednesday morning's parley.

While Boboye was saddled with the onerous task of turning around the team's dwindling fortunes in the current campaign around, with an excruciating Oriental Derby against Enyimba top on the card this weekend, Heartland have also named Charles Uzor, a former player of the club to the status of Chief Coach of the club.

Uzor Replaces Willie Udube who has been demoted to the Feeder Team along with Victor 'Terminator' Ezuruike who had been the Team Manager of the club.

Also in the shake that swept through the three-time domestic cup winners fold on Wednesday, Feeder Team Coach, Chidi Ike, was upgraded to the Senior team coaching crew.

Boboye told the club's Media soon after assumption of duties that he was not unaware of the huge responsibilities placed on his technical shoulders following his appointment as Heartland FC technical supremo and pledged his readiness and commitment to pull through.

"I am ready for the task. I had different thoughts when I was contacted initially because of the club's position on the league table but with what I have seen on ground, I am certain we can pull through," Boboye told Heartland FC Media.

"We need everyone to get to work. You are going to be seeing a new mentality in the team. The players have assured me there would be changes and I am excited to be here", Boboye who also had a coaching spell at Remo Stars said.
