Blankson Reveals Cash Promise Sparked Rivers Angels’ 3-0 Victory Over Delta Queens

Head Coach of Rivers Angels, Tosan Blankson, has credited a N100,000 cash incentive as the spark that ignited his team’s dominant 3-0 win over Delta Queens in their Matchday 12 South-South derby clash at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The emphatic victory was led by Mary Moses, who netted a sensational hat-trick, taking her season tally to 10 goals and making her a joint top scorer in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).
Speaking after the game, Coach Blankson praised his players for bouncing back strongly from their previous defeat in Lagos. He revealed that a cash promise was used to boost morale and motivation.
“It wasn’t easy to psyche the players up after the loss in Lagos. But I promised them N100,000 if they beat Delta Queens — they gave their all, took their chances, and delivered,” he said.
He also showered praise on Moses for her work ethic and consistent performances. “She’s a player ready to work. Any player willing to put in the effort will always succeed,” he added.
The match lived up to its billing, with both sides displaying flair and tactical discipline, but Rivers Angels proved too strong for their rivals on the day.
