Nigerian billionaire entrepreneur Keji Giwa has shared his views on why many men and women aged 50 and above often appear eager to embrace divorce, linking the trend to personal freedom and the pursuit of individual goals.

Speaking on relationships and personal growth, Giwa said spending a lifetime with another person can be difficult when both partners are not aligned in their ambitions and life objectives.

“Spending the rest of your life with another human is not easy unless you are synchronized and aligned with the same goals,” he explained.

According to the businessman, the excitement some people express after divorce often reflects a renewed sense of independence and the opportunity to rediscover themselves.

“I keep hearing from people that they are excited about being divorced. You had the freedom to just be yourself,” he said.

Giwa also argued that many individuals sometimes blame others for their inability to achieve personal dreams instead of taking responsibility for their own decisions.

“The reality is that many people are too weak to do things on their own and instead blame others for not achieving their dreams,” he added.

He stressed that achieving success requires personal accountability and, in some cases, a willingness to prioritise one’s ambitions.

“Nobody held you by the neck. You convincingly said, ‘No, this is what I’m going to do,’ and at least you have been able to achieve what you want to do at the time you want to achieve it,” Giwa said, adding that people should be honest about their priorities.

“Put your hand up and say, ‘I am selfish,’” he concluded, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and responsibility in pursuing personal success.
