Big Brother Naija alumna Queen Mercy Atang has opened up about her decision to unfollow her husband on Instagram, clarifying the reasons behind what many perceived as signs of marital trouble.

The reality TV personality, who is a mother of one, tied the knot with David Oyekanmi in March 2024. Their union initially appeared picture-perfect on social media, with the couple sharing glimpses of their wedding celebration online.
However, speculation about their relationship began circulating when Atang removed their wedding photos from her social media accounts and unfollowed her husband on the platform. The moves prompted widespread rumors about potential marital difficulties.

Setting the record straight in a recent video posted to her social media, Atang explained that her actions were actually motivated by a desire to safeguard her marriage rather than signal any problems.

“I was trying to take my marriage off social media because my husband’s handle is out there, with a lot of ladies sliding in his DM to say both positive and negative things,” she explained in the clip that has since gone viral.

The former housemate emphasized that her primary concern was protecting her relationship from external interference and maintaining privacy around her personal life.

“I just want to protect my marriage and reduce some of the things I put out there,” she concluded, making it clear that the social media changes were strategic moves to preserve her matrimonial bond rather than indications of trouble in paradise.
