Edo Queens forward Atume Doosuur has revealed that scoring goals for the Benin City–based side brings her great joy and serves as a major source of motivation in her football career.

 

The prolific striker, who has been in fine form in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, credited God, the club’s technical crew and her teammates for her growing influence in the team.

 

“Each time I score for my club, it gives me joy and I give glory to God. I also thank the technical crew for giving me the opportunity, and my teammates for their support,” Doosuur said.

 

She added that her focus is always on contributing to the team’s success, especially in crucial fixtures. “Whenever we are preparing for a crucial league match, I always pray to God to help me score. I am happiest when my team wins. My aim is to keep improving by scoring more goals. We want to qualify for the Super Six and work hard to win the league so we can represent Nigeria on the continent.”

 

Doosuur was the star performer in Edo Queens’ last home match before the Christmas break, netting a brace in a convincing 2–0 victory over Adamawa Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The goals took her tally to three in four league appearances, underlining her impressive form this season.

 

The former champions will return to league action on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, when they face Naija Ratels FC of Abuja in a Matchday 6 fixture of the NWFL Premiership. The encounter is scheduled for the Bwari Stadium, Abuja, with kickoff set for 4:00 pm local time.

 

Currently second on the Group A standings of the abridged league format, Edo Queens are expected to arrive in Abuja well-prepared as they continue their strong push for a place in the Super Six.

 

Although Naija Ratels have never defeated Edo Queens in a competitive match, the Benin City side remains cautious and wary of underestimating the Abuja-based team. Relying on their experience and tactical discipline, Edo Queens will be targeting maximum points.
