Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the alleged threat made by Felix Morka, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Atiku described Morka's statement as "inflammatory" and a "disturbing emblem" of the current administration's approach to addressing opposition figures.

The controversy began when Obi criticized the worsening economic, security, and healthcare conditions in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu's leadership. Morka responded by saying that Obi had "crossed the line" and would face consequences. Atiku argued that this language reveals a disdain for democratic principles and has no place in a free society.

Atiku emphasized that democracy thrives on the healthy exchange of ideas and that opposition leaders like Obi have a vital role to play in promoting public accountability. He called on the APC to issue a formal apology to Obi and the Nigerian people for Morka's "disgraceful language".

The Labour Party has also condemned Morka's statement, calling on President Tinubu to reprimand him within seven days. The party warned that failure to do so would send a troubling signal that the administration is complicit in or indifferent to threats against democracy and political dissent.
