Asswehly Sports Club have officially completed the signing of 36 Lion product Otto John on a two-year deal, reinforcing their squad ahead of the new campaign.

The forward arrives in Libya after two impressive seasons with Turan Tovuz in the Azerbaijani top flight, where his consistent performances and attacking quality set him apart.

Otto’s standout displays attracted strong interest from several North African heavyweights, including Ahly Benghazi, Étoile du Sahel, Espérance, and Zamalek. However, it was Asswehly’s Martyrs Brigades who ultimately won the race for his signature in a deal reportedly worth $3 million.

The move marks a fresh chapter for the 27-year-old, who heads to Libya in search of new challenges and opportunities abroad. The signing is widely seen as a strategic boost to Asswehly’s attacking options as they continue to strengthen for domestic and continental ambitions.

Reacting to the transfer, 36 Lion adviser Hajji Gafar expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating:

“Our smiles to the bank will continue as we conduct football business in strict adherence to its foundational principles.

This represents the beginning of a long-term collaboration with our Libyan partners. Football investment in Libya is developing rapidly and gaining strong momentum.

We are grateful to brothers like Ibrahim Dbiba, Cem Sagar, Walid Abdellah, Olajide Olaitan, and Majdi Aborawi for their positivity and unwavering belief in Nigeria.”

Otto John brings with him valuable experience, having previously featured for Skënderbeu Korçe, Trepça ’89, Prishtina, and Dukagjini, and is expected to make an immediate impact in Asswehly colours.
