The Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership has publicly expressed support for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her as a “distinguished daughter of Northern Nigeria” whose dedication to public service should be safeguarded against institutional suppression.

 

The statement follows heightened tensions at the National Assembly, particularly during a budget defense session on February 11, 2026, where Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan walked out of a Senate Committee meeting on Steel Development after clashing with the committee chairman over her authority to probe the Ministry of Steel.

 

In a declaration signed by the Assembly’s President, Abdul Danbature, the group expressed “unequivocal solidarity” with the Senator, commending her commitment to grassroots empowerment and infrastructural development. The statement highlighted her advocacy for the Ajaokuta Steel Company as an example of purposeful leadership.

 

Addressing the leadership of the National Assembly under Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the group urged a return to democratic norms.
