APC Will Sack Gov Otti in 2027 — Orji Kalu Vows
Senator representing Abia North at the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will unseat Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in the 2027 governorship election.
Kalu made the statement while addressing his supporters at a political gathering, where he described Governor Otti as a one-term governor, insisting that the incumbent lacks political experience.
The former Abia State governor said the APC is fully prepared to take over the state in the next election cycle, adding that he would personally campaign across the state to ensure Otti’s defeat.
“The Governor said in an interview that people who want to take over from him should go and write their wills. Tell him to go and write his will first because we are taking over,” Kalu said.
He further dismissed Otti’s political credentials, describing him as a technocrat rather than a politician.
“The Governor is a joker; he doesn’t know politics. He is a banker. As far as I’m concerned, the Governor is a one-term governor,” he added.
Kalu also expressed confidence that Abia voters would rally behind the APC, insisting that electoral manipulation would not be tolerated in the state.
“Abia people will speak in one voice. We don’t allow people to rig elections here,” he stated.
Reacting to Kalu’s remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Alex Otti on Public Communication, Dodoh Okafor, said the senator would be disappointed in the 2027 election.
Okafor accused Kalu of relying on external political influence to secure victory, arguing that such dependence stems from fears of rejection by APC members and voters in Abia North and other parts of the state.
According to him, APC members would work against Kalu, while Governor Otti’s performance in office would earn him a second term.
He maintained that the current administration is executing quality projects that surpass what was delivered during Kalu’s tenure as governor.
Okafor further asserted that Governor Otti remains politically influential, adding that any candidate endorsed by the governor in the 2027 elections would emerge victorious.
The exchange signals an early intensification of political rivalry in Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
