Osita Okechukwu, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its recent declaration that Nigerians will oust the APC in 2027. The PDP’s statement, delivered by its spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, likened the move to Ghana’s opposition party unseating the ruling government, claiming Nigerians will end APC’s “oppressive rule” and restore good governance under the PDP platform.

Okechukwu, however, dismissed the PDP’s remarks, arguing that the party should instead be grateful to former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu for not investigating its alleged wrongdoings during its 16 years in power. He accused the PDP of corruption, election rigging, and mismanagement, pointing to issues such as the controversial sale of legislative and ministerial quarters, the abandonment of the $23 billion Greenfield Refinery project, and violations of the north-south power rotation convention.

“The PDP should not insult Nigerians’ sensibility by assuming they have forgotten the party’s failures,” Okechukwu stated, emphasizing that the public can still recall the misdeeds that defined the PDP’s tenure.

He concluded that the PDP should thank God for the restraint shown by Buhari and Tinubu in not probing its past, adding, “This is why many Nigerians struggle to differentiate between the two parties.”
